The town of Bury is situated about 8 miles northwest of Manchester in northwest England. Bury Tandem Club for the Visually Impaired currently consists of about 35 fully sighted and visually impaired members of all ages. The general standard of fitness is high. We are usually out every Sunday between approximately 9.30 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. Tandem rides range from 40 to 60 miles over varied terrain.
Owing to other commitments, not all our current front riders are able to ride each week which means that some of our visually impaired members are not able to tandem as often as they would like. We would therefore be very grateful to hear from anyone who would be willing to act as a front tandem rider for the club. A reasonable level of fitness would certainly be useful, as would experience of cycling on a solo. No knowledge of tandems, tandem riding or visual impairment is required as full training will be given.
If you would like to become a front tandem rider for Bury Tandem Club, please let us know. Please tell us why you feel you would make a suitable front tandem rider and include your contact details plus any other information you consider relevant.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
