Guests are more than welcome. Contact Dave Harrison by 19 February at the latest with your required menu(s) and a £5 deposit per person. The main meal will be served plated. The cost is £16 per person and the time is 7 pm for 7:30 pm. Please come. Dave would also value any donations of raffle prizes.
If you have a particular point of view to put forward or simply a suggestion of how you would like to see Club rides improved, here is your chance. We want both positive and negative impressions. Be honest. We're not pretending to be perfect in the way we do things. Come to a Front Riders' Meeting at the Waterloo Hotel, Manchester Road, Bury on Monday 22 March 2004 at 7:30 for 8 pm and tell us your ideas over a drink!
We need to expand our pool of front riders, so that every visually impaired member can go riding, ideally every Sunday. A decent number of people doing one ride a month eases the pressure on our dedicated members doing several rides a month. Please tell your neighbours, friends and workmates about our club's activities. Tell them further information is available on www.bury-tandem-club.org.uk or by ringing Derek.
Towards the end of 2003, the Waterloo Hotel had a quiz night and raised the above sum which they donated to our club. Thank you Waterloo!
It is proposed that we have car assisted rides in 2004 on 14 March, 25 April, 18 July and 5 September. A return visit to Arnside hostel (good weather has been booked with the Met Office) is pencilled in for the weekend of June 6 and the Peter Jackson Memorial Ride will take place on August 1. Further details will be available nearer the time. We are giving reliability rides a miss this year.
With the next runs list, you will probably receive a Gift Aid Declaration form. If you are a tax payer and you sign this form, the Club can claim back tax from your membership subscription at no cost to yourself. Please consider signing the form and returning it to David Jones for action. Thank you.
Paul Selon and Susan Notorangelo, members of the Ultra-Marathon Cycling Association, took 8 days 8 hours and 45 minutes and 9 days 9 hours 9 minutes respectively to cycle 3107 miles across America from Costa Mesa, California to New York in August 1989.
