The Annual General Meeting took place on Friday 22 November at the Waterloo Hotel, Manchester Road, Bury at 7.30 pm. The turnout was impressive - 26 or more - and was followed by a free pie and peas supper for members. The evening was enjoyed by all. The two major messages of the AGM were:
Mike is recovering slowly but surely after an accident at home in which he broke his collar bone and sustained severe bruising. His arm movement is restricted at present so that he can open the bottom lock on the workshop door, but not the top one!! We send our best wishes to Mike and Carole.
Peter continues to make great progress in his recovery from his heart attack and is now fit enough to walk three miles a day. He hopes to get a 'clean bill of health' in January 2003. Our best wishes for a complete recovery go to Peter and Margaret.
I am currently restructuring our website. This will include updating its content and making it more accessible to everyone. If any new front riders have the time, I would be grateful if you could write a short piece for the website about why you initially joined the Club, how you are benefiting from it at the moment and where you think it may go in the future. Such personal profiles may prove to be a good way of recruiting potential new members and promote the Club to a wider audience. If you have the time to write a personal profile, could you please either phone it through to John on 01204 840860 or e-mail it to jrobinson@wisteria40.ndo.co.uk. Thank you.
Ross Glover and Janine Pritchard have volunteered to become committee members. We would like to welcome them to the committee and to wish them the best of luck in their new roles.
At the AGM, the idea of a possible weekend of tandeming was suggested, to take place some time in 2003. First thoughts involved staying at a youth hostel or Bed and Breakfast place for Friday and Saturday nights after travelling there on the Friday night by car, towing the tandems on the trailer. Suggestions please.
It was decided at the AGM that each Sunday run will have a runs Leader. This person will change each week and will be a volunteer. The purpose of the leader will be to lead the run and have the final say in any difference of opinion e.g. route, destination etc. on the day.
