As most members will already know, Peter suffered a heart attack about five weeks ago and was taken immediately to hospital. We are glad to report that he is now recuperating at home and we send our very best wishes to Peter and Margaret for a speedy recovery.
We would also like to thank both Peter and Alan Hughes for organising this year's collections in Bury town centre and at Tesco so efficiently. The former raised approximately £580 and the latter £816. It is thanks to Peter's and Alan's unstinting efforts that both collections ran so smoothly. Thanks also to those members who gave up their time to participate in the collections. These are vital to our fundraising, as our club's running costs are in the region of £5000 per year!
Please put your thinking caps on. Contact any committee member with fresh ideas.
Please send your RiderBike insurance payment to David Jones NO LATER THAN 30 September. The cost is £13.50 for individuals and £22 for family membership. His address is: 22 Turks Road, Radcliffe, Manchester, M26 4PU. If you haven't paid by this date, you won't be insured i.e. you won't be able to ride with the club.
Did you enjoy this ride more than 'normal' rides from Tottington? Tell us why (or why not). This will help in planning future car assisted rides which take considerable organisation behind the scenes.
Is there someone you know - a colleague at work, a neighbour or a friend - who presently rides solo and might be interested in being a front rider for us? Please ask them and, if they wish to know more, we'll send them a 'starter pack' which tells them all they need to know. Initially, they can ring one of the following numbers:
Attendance at the Annual General Meeting of Bury Tandem Club for the V.I. at 7.30 pm promptly at the Waterloo Hotel, 155 Manchester Road, Bury on Friday 22 November 2002 will guarantee all members a free pie and peas supper and social evening to follow! Please do come. Your views are important to the club. Ring Martin Conway on 0161 720 6052 about the middle of October if you are coming, as he needs to know catering numbers.
